Are Japanese girls just interested in being friends?

You start out being friends. Japanese girls are often cute and shy. And, they rarely state matters close-to-the-heart in a straightforward manner. So, even if a Japanese girl doesn't say something like "I'm looking for a husband," "I'm seeking a lifetime partner," "I'm marriage minded," "I want to get married to a foreigner," "I'm a Japanese woman seeking marriage minded men," "I want to marry an American (Canadian, European, African, Australian...)," it doesn't mean that her purpose in joining our pen-pal club is not to do exactly that: meet her future husband through correspondence. It's just that Japanese girls consider such declarations to be out of place. Many of our members have Japanese wives who said in their first letters that they wanted to meet foreign men for language exchange. From experience with Japanese girls and many years of reading their letters, we can determine that most Japanese girls in our penpal club are girls seeking marriage minded men.

Aren't Japanese girls prevented from marrying a non-Japanese?

No, this is a gross overstatement. There are individual and cultural prejudices all over the world, and Japan is no exception. But the Japanese girls who join our club represent the most open-minded segment of the Japanese female population. Hundreds of the Japanese girls in our correspondence club have married men in our club.

What does Pacific Century offer?

Are the pictures in color? Does every girl have a photograph?

Every girl (Japanese or otherwise) has a photo and profile introduction in the hard-copy magazine. At the Pacific Century web site, every girl has a photograph since the Summer 1997 issue. The web-site-version pictures are in color (every Japanese girl has her own home page), the hard-copy-version pictures are in black & white.

Are any of these Japanese women living in the United States?

Yes. We have featured Japanese women living in Los Angeles, San Francisco and elsewhere in California as well as Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland and other states. Other Japanese girls in our club are living in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Belgium, Germany and other foreign countries. However, most of our female Japanese members are living in Japan.

How do I contact Japanese girls?

All of the Japanese girls in The Pacific Century Club magazine have a snail-mail address. Buy the magazine and you have everything you need to write to any or all of the dozens and dozens of Japanese girls and scores of other Asian women in the magazine (325+ women per issue). You can also get addresses individually if you want only a select few Japanese girls or Japanese girls from different magazines.

What kind of Japanese girls are they?

Students (high school girls, college girls, university students), nurses, models, office workers, secretaries, stewardesses, aerobics instructors... They are often very beautiful, always cute, sometimes sexy — babes aplenty.

I've joined pen-pal clubs that said they had Japanese women, but I was dissappointed to find only a few Japanese women — and they didn't answer my letters.

Those operators know that Japanese women are popular, so they emphasize "Japanese Women" in their web pages and literature even if they only have one or two female members from Japan. They probably didn't answer your letters because the listings are old and the Japanese women you wrote had already received too many letters. Pacific Century has hundreds of members from Japan. These are important features of our penpal club that insure you will get the best results possible!

Are these Japanese girls virgins?

It's not our business to ask if they are virgins. We consider that a private matter. You shouldn't ask either — it's simply not appropriate.

How well can these Japanese girls speak English?

Most Japanese women in our penpal club are pretty good at English. A few of these Japanese women are able to write English quite well, but not fluently enough to call English-speaking. Such Japanese women prefer letters in simple English or in Japanese. You will find that Japanese girls write very clearly and on the most beautiful stationary, so their letters are much easier to read than those of most native-speakers of English!

I know other Asian women have trouble visiting the U.S. — How about Japanese women?

That's true. Women from most Asian countries can't get into the United States without a visa — which is often difficult for them to obtain. On top of that, women from Asian countries like the Philippines or China usually can't afford to travel abroad. So, if you want to meet an Asian woman in the Philippines or China, for example, you will probably have to travel to Asia to meet her there. (Note that many of the Filipino women in our club live in Hong Kong, which may be less out of your way.) As for Japanese women, since most Western countries like the US, Canada and England, as well as Australia and New Zealand have special visa agreements with Japan, Japanese women don't need a visa to visit most of the foreign countries where you are likely to be. If they do need a visa, for study, extended homestay or working holiday, for example, it's a simple matter for them to obtain it. And Japanese women have the financial ability to travel abroad. (it's often cheaper than travel within Japan!) The Japanese women in our club travel overseas even more often than most Japanese people, so meeting and dating your Japanese penpals will be easier than your other Asian friends.

How do Japanese women compare with other Asian women?

Japanese women are the most Westernized Asian women only in the sense that they live in the most economically advanced country in Asia. However, in terms of culture and national character, Japanese women are probably the most Oriental women in Asia. Despite importing many Western ways of doing things, they remain a unique (though many Japanese regret changes since the war). Western influence on other Asian women is more profound: you can find many more Christians in Korea or the Philippines than in Japan, for instance. Asian women certainly aren't all the same; in fact, Asian women from different Asian countries are more distinct both in appearance and personality than different Europeans. Of the Asian women in our club, Japanese women are easily the most popular. However, those who prefer Japanese women also have an interest in other east Asian women: Korean women, Chinese women and Taiwanese women. These countries have cultural links with Japan dating back thousands of years. Also, Thailand has an affinity with Japan linked to a shared heritage of Buddhism. Other southeast Asian women tend to be less popular perhaps only because any correspondence or dating service or marriage agency featuring Asian women has a large membership from that area (especially the Philippines). Certainly the greatest number of international marriages through these clubs are between Filipinas and American men. However, the consensus opinion of men who have traveled around Asia and meet Asian women frequently is that Japanese women are the best, the most feminine of Asian girls (and earth girls) and they know how to treat a man right. That opinion would get a lot of flak, but it is the way most men who know think. Aren't there lots of Korean girls in Japan?

Yes, but they often have Japanese names and have assimilated into Japanese society.

Are there any girls under age 18?

No, our pen-pal club is for adults (over age 18). Although Japanese girls often have a cuteness and innocence Westerners associate with girls of a younger age combined with a natural attitude towards sex, we do not welcome men with rorikon (a Lolita complex).

Is this just for pen-pal correspondence through the mail?

No. We enable you to contact Japanese girls through the mail mostly, but you're free to chat on the phone or whatever after the initial contact. We realize that many men want to call up a woman "cold." This is a very bad idea. Our Japanese girls have traditional values and want to maintain a degree of privacy. We hope you will respect our Japanese girls! Besides, does anybody like cold calls?

Any advice on meeting Japanese girls?

The first meeting only happens once of course, so it's important to make your first meeting a good one. Meeting them in a public place is always best (to put them at ease.) Don't suggest meeting in your first letter. But you can bring this subject up pretty early when you have the chance. (it's no big deal.) Some of the men in our club live in Japan. They say meeting Japanese girls is not easy because they just don't have the chance. Membership in our club is the perfect solution for them. They say they often receive small presents on the first meeting. This is a Japanese custom and you shouldn't read too much into it. Japanese girls do it all the time. You might want to bring some small present to your first meeting, but it's not necessary.

Most women I know regard me as a lonely nerd. Would Japanese girls be any different?

Nerds rule Japan! To put it in other words: Japanese girls admire studiousness and pursuit of scientific and engineering degrees. You'll find that Japanese girls are what you've always been looking for — if you even thought they existed. You'll never be lonely again. You may even find out you're not a nerd after all.

Is making Japanese girlfriends easy then?

Making Japanese girlfriends is easier than making girlfriends in your home country — that's just a fact that any man who's had contact with them knows. There is a strong Oriental attraction on the guy's part and a strong attraction for foreigners on the part of Japanese girls. Many people in Japan don't like to talk about it, but it's a fundamental part of Japanese culture. The Japanese are curious about the outside world and are very adept at learning from foreign sources — that's another aspect of it.

Are these Japanese girls all single? Have all never been married?

They are singles. All of them are single and most have never been married — a few are divorced or widowed. Very few are single mothers, though most want children. These days, Japanese girls are thinking of having a small family (one or two children as opposed to the larger families of pre-war times.)

How about religion?

Japan's traditional religion is called Shintoism. It's a kind of nature worship or animistic belief. They have fused it with Buddhist beliefs imported from India by way of China and Korea. Though Christian missionaries had success in converting Japanese go Christianity at the time of Japan's original opening to the west in the 16th century, that came to an end when overseas influence was cut off in the early 17th century Today, despite a flood of missionaries from overseas, less 1% of Japan is Christian. But Japanese girls often adopt the religion of their mates or spouses, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or whatever.

How good are Pacific Century's connections? The quality of the contact addresses?

Tops, we think. Of course Japanese girls move, but not often. The addresses, both e-mail, snail-mail (fax and phone numbers too) on our address lists are fresh and current. We never publish old addresses a second time (unless a Japanese girl writes and explains she wants to be listed again). So, our connections are very reliable, our address lists accurate.

Isn't the term 'girls' disrespectful? Shouldn't you say 'Japanese women?'

On the contrary, we worship the women of Japan! The term ko in Japan is often used to refer to Japanese females well into their twenties. Ko is translated as 'girl' or 'child.' Japanese girls in their twenties form the largest age group in our club.

Japanese girls sound too good to be true!
